Default dealership programming tpms

So I got a new set of wheels and tires and tpms sensors for the f. When I was looking around for mounting and balancing my sa at my dealership said they wouldn't touch the wheels because they were aftermarket. OK that's no big deal got them mounted and balanced from a shop in the town I live in but were unable to code the sensors because his programmer only works for aftermarket sensors. So I called my sa at Lexus and she told me it would be 350 bucks because they would have to break down the tire and get the code from the sensor despite me telling her I have the codes written down and they only have to plug up and code them in. I called Toyota and they quoted me 90 bucks. I'm sorry but this just doesn't seem right to me...does anyone near Georgia have techstream software and cable? I did check with some more shops in the area and they all quoted me about 90 as well. Any help out there? Thanks

They all just want business and your money, you just need that device or reader..it works without removing anything...I got frustrated with similar dilema so I bought me the kit/reader cost me $500ish...too bad your not local or it'll be free

I got mine sync'd for free at America's Tires (Discount TIre DIrect). Are there any out there in GA?

Make sure you have them sync it to #1 or #2. I forgot to tell the guy, and he overridden my #1, so now my stockies sitting in the garage are no longer sync'd. I'll bring them back when I put them on to be sync'd, unless I sell them.

I haven't done this myself, but will soon. From my understanding, Techstream isn't absolutely necessary since one of the newer more advanced Bartech TPMS tools can do the job for our cars.

I'd call around. Hopefully another shop near you has the correct tool.

I had the same issue when I got my winter setup. I used a local tire shop to install the tires onto the rims and they could not get the tpms activated, so I went to my dealer and they programmed the sensors without having to remove the tires, also they did not charge me! It took them 10 mins and it was a goodwill gesture.

If you would like to save money I recommend just searching on ebay for the cable and software Techstream. You can reprogram tpms and key fobs along with disable your drl. just to name a few functions it has.
