Default How often do you guys change windshield wipers? - If, at all............

I was wondering how often you guys change windshield wipers? And if you change them, what kind do you usually get?

I live in Minnesota with a harsh climate - Snow, Ice, Heat in the summer. I think this is kind of hard on the rubber on the wipers, so I don't think they can be cleaned, but have to be replaced.

Once a year. There's nothing to clean, the rubber just wears out. It gets hard, warps, cracks.

You can just replace the inserts, you don't need to put whole new wipers on every time.

Where do you get the inserts and typically what do they cost you?

The lexus dealership sells them for about $25.00 where I go or I've also gotten my inserts from the toyota dealerships, since all they do is just cut the rubber to size, its a little cheaper.

I'm in Florida and the heat destroys them quickly. Haven't changed them on this GS yet but on all my other cars, every 4-6 months.

I replaced the inserts for the vary first time 3 years after the ownership, you can get the inserts for less than $20 from Sewell or $32+ installed. Somehow, I have replaced my other toys every 6~10 months...

Once a year sounds about right. I dont know if you have autozone or pep boys in your area, but you can get the rain X ones for about 10 a piece and install them yourself. It's a 5 minute job...if that.

at ~$5 per rubber insert, I just change them each year when the winter tires go on.
