Default Do we have this feature?

Most german cars have the feature where the headlights remain on after leaving the car and locking, and they automatically switch off after some amount of time? Do we have it.. and if we do, how to enable it? Hope no dealership is required due to the incompetence of ours.

We don't have this option. Your lights will go off immediately when you open your door.

mine turns off when the door is open (with ignition off) as well.

But maybe the previous owner disabled it too cuz he disabled the DRL.

i think this may be a c-best setting controlled only by the dealer. i could be wrong but i remember when i purchased my 07GS350, i was given a list of options that i could change and this may have been one of them (it was also 3.5 yrs ago, so i might be wrong)

It's a customizable option that the dealership sets. Default is 30 seconds, but it can be set to 60, 90, or off.

this was given to me for the live assistance: http://www.lexus.com/pdf/service/GS_LPS.pdf
Option 12: Delay for headlights to turn off
After turning off the ignition and all the doors are closed, if the
headlights are ON or in the AUTOposition, the lights can be
programmed for the following:
Turn off immediately, when the vehicle is turned off and the driver
door is opened.
Turn off in 30 seconds. (Standard)
Turn off in 60 seconds.
Turn off in 90 seconds.

well i leave my headlights on auto, so when it gets dark or i go inside underground parking lot, my HID low beam headlights come on automatically. then i just park and walk away with the headlights on. and as jmtamu said, the lights go off after 30 seconds. hope this helps.

Yeh, from the above options 30 seconds is standard... but I dont know why our cars were opted for the first setting. Hope they can change it for me.

LPS settings can only be changed by dealer. At my dealer LPS setting changes are free.

the GS owner's manual describes the various personalization settings that can be done. The headlight can be set to stay on by the dealer.

I find the lexus service department to be quite competent...at least the one I go to.
