Default Side mirror abuse

So it seems like people's favorite thing to do is to hit my side mirrors while i'm away from my car. It's happened a couple times and have cause me to have to fold them in and unfold them to get them to where they should be. Yesterday, i took my car to the car wash and as I pulled out of the tunnel, i noticed that my passenger side mirror was folded in slightly. Does this mean that whatever it is that keeps the mirror in place is becoming damaged? Am I going to have to keep my mirrors folded everytime I park just to prevent it from getting worse?

not sure, but One time I hit my passenger side mirror on a huge recycling bin and it flapped back like it was broken.. It was very loose, then I hit the folding mirror button and it seemed to fix it back to normal...

You should probably fold them back when parallel parking or tight parking spaces.
