Default Front Brake change Successful !

Hey guys I was going to pick up my Front and Rear brake pads at Lexus of Kendall... I will most likely install them myself because they told me it would be 500$... If anyone has changed them, can you rate how difficult it was from 1-10 ?

I remember seeing a DIY brake change on IS 350... It should be very similar in changing the GS350 brakes, right ???? Also if you have any tips and tricks can you please share with me... Thanks a lot I would appreciate all the help...

Well since no one replied I went ahead and changed my brakes back to OEM brakes.. I had the"dustless" pads and they produced horrible squeeling noises

I just simply followed the IS350 brake change DIY thread... I bought all necessary stuff for around 70$ (including front brakes). I have never changed brakes before, I would have to say it was not difficult at all.
The hardest part was using the C-Clamp to compress, and insert new pads.

I just test drove my car around the neighbor hood and I got to say I am very excited I did not destroy my car LOL

Here are a few tips for any one that wants to replace front pads....

1. Print out the DIY thread in the IS350 forum
2. Place jack in proper position.
2. Be organized when you remove stuff
3. Have patience
4. Try not to do it alone.
5. Dont loose the small Pin

Here is an image where I placed the jacks... If you look under by the side skirt you will see a thin beam that has two slits in it. That is the spot to place jack. ( I used 2 jacks just in case because my driveway has a slight incline from left to right.)



DO NOT LOOSE THIS PIECE, ITS VERY EASY TO MISPLACE

so you bought new pads front and rear plus the shim kits for $70 bucks?

Would you post DIY step by step instruction? Thanks. I need to replace mine as well. The brakes squeal louder than the sea lions.

maybe there are no replies since its been covered already I know I have posted the answer to this more then once. Everything you asked I know I have answered in previous threads. This is why we need a master "sticky" thread for the 3gs section as the ISx50 section has.

For front and Rear I paid 84.99 total... For just the front brakes and supplys needed for install I paid around 60-70 $

I just replaced my front pads... I used the shims from old pads and cleaned them up really good... Im gonna replace the rear pads this weekend....

Thank You. Yes , you definitely covered everything in your thread.. I could not have done it with out those pictures and information you and others had posted in the IS350 forum, THANKS !

I just wanted some tips and tricks for beginners that had never changed brakes before.

Everything was the same for GS350...

gotcha. i was going to say if you got everything for $70 bucks thats a steal!
