Default Write Up DIY on Brake Change???

I've done the searches and since there are some issues with squealing brakes, TSIB on brakes and all the other issues with the brakes, I couldn't lock down where or if there is a thread on the DIY for brake pad replacements.

Can anyone help?

I'm planning on replacing my front brake pads in the next couple days and wanted to know if there was a DIY write up on it? I've heard issues where certain warning lights are coming up if you bleed the brakes. I want to avoid as many issues as i can.

I've had a 98 GS400 where i replaced the brake pads all the time...take the caliper off, remove the brake pads, clean it out with the brake cleaner, push back the pistons, put in new pads, put it all back together, pump the brakes a couple times and you're good to go....please tell me it's the same???

As always, all the help is greatly appreciated!

If you have the GS350, GS430, or GS460 the brakes are the same. Go to the 2IS section and look under the FAQ section and look at the IS350 DIY brake change. If you have the GS300 then look at the IS250 as it shares the same brake set up. Its easy to change the brake pads and rotors on these cars if that's all your looking to do. I would suggest to not bleed the brakes unless you have to. I have the PDF on what you need to do but best to have the dealer or a tech do this for you.

passnu2,

Thanks for the info....didn't even think of checking the IS350 setup....I have a 2007 GS350, so i agree, same setup and yes, very easy to do. Can you tell me what the scenario would be to bleed the brakes? I've never done it before, on my old 1998 or the new one. And yes, I would be interested in seeing the PDF...do you mind emailing it to me at ap0718@gmail.com

Thanks in advance!

if you bleed the brakes, be careful. depending on which 3gs you have, if you don't do it correctly you will trigger the warning lights and you will need a reader to reset them
