Default Paint job

I was wondering..

How much would it cost to get a paint job on my lexus gs350 (07)? Its taking a beating with all this snow and ice. My guess is that would cost at least a grand.

I would want to keep it the same color, just wondering if that is a feasable idea.

One thing I'll never understand, why is it when you get a scratch on a black car, the scratch is white or silver. Why not make the entire car black so if I get a scratch I'd never notice it?

A decent one would cost much more than a grand for the whole car. Most of the time you can detail the imperfections off. Scratches look white because the clear cost is compromised and therefore looks white. You can just level it off with some polishing.

painting and install a set of lip kits will run a grand easily for a good job already

if you want to do it right and respray the whole car, i think 2500 to 3000 is not a bad price. a lot of the parts have to come off the car for painting

Repainting a whole car is overkill and not something you want to do unless it's completely destroyed. A repspray is never as good as the factory paint, they just cannot cure it at the high temperature that they can at the factory (unless every panel is removed from the car, I suppose but do they ever do that?).

Just get a porter cable and some touchup paint.

Also, the primer is white if the scratch is deep enough to get that far down. They should anodize the metal black, spray black tinted primer, and then black paint with a black tinted clear. :P

most scratches can be buffed out or wetsanded out depending how deep it is. if you cant feel it with your finger nail, theres a good chance you can just wetsand it.

I was quoted by my extemely reputable body shop between 7-10 k for it to be done correctly all the panels and trims need to be removed and reinstalled unless you want tape lines any and all inperfections need to be filled and sanded the car needs to be painted, cleared and then wetsanded and buffed out or else your going to look like you have a maaco special on your luxury vehicle. I am sure however that certain people have hook ups and a similar job could cost alot less

I had mine done for a little over 4k and they did all the detail prep required for a quality job.

If they remove all panels, which I assume is so that they can cook it at the appropriate temperature, how is this done to the roof portion of the car? Looks like bumpers, doors, trunk, hood and maybe front fenders can be removed, but the frame is the frame. Just curious is all.

If I'm going to repaint the car, it will be when I'm about to get rid of it. However, my experience has been (thus far), a repaint on a luxury car taken care of exceeds the difference in what I received for the car.

7k for a paint job sounds a bit steep to me . I would say have the car repaired instead of repainting the entire car

Cant duplicate the factory's baked finish. Cant duplicae the eCoat either. We can turn up the heat to around 140 degrees to help it cure, but thats nothing close to the factorys baked on finish. also theres no such a paint sold in the states that calls for, or even capable of withstanding a "baked" on process. its all "cure" at 140 degress.

just "re-paint"... i heard as low as 800 bucks... @.@
but it's guarantee all the places where it shouldn't be painted will be painted. and u'll definately wonders how long the paint will last when u see the car.

avg. painting is about 3000~5000 for a full car with all the panels removed and sanded.
5000~8000 if u go premium paint or custom paint

yeah, for 8K...there's really no point to that. you're not getting that back when you sell it (regardless of who you sell it to).
