Default goodbye 3gs

after 10 short months, I sold my 3gs today. I love the style of the car, and wanted one since the day they came out, but i was not that happy with it anymore. I didn't do my research on the awd system, and was disappointed with the limitations of it. The car in general just lacked some really basic features. I mean, my old scion tc, and my GF's pos pontiac sunfire both played MP3 cds, the scion had an aux input as well, but the lexus? nope.

I am trying to buy a house soon, so I figure it was a good idea to get rid of the car payment and free up some credit. I am looking at getting a 2gs now, so I will definitely still be around! I'll post pics as soon as I get a new car.

Good luck with the house hunting now is the time to buy.

I take it that the cup holders were OK! Hope you enjoy driving your next Pontiac or Scion as much as you did the Lexus...great vehicles!

Those features are present in the 07+ for mp3 and 08+ for AUX. Both could be added via a VAIS unit for cheap even on the 06...so I don't see why you would sell a car just due to a simple thing such as that. The AWD system I could understand, but its not like Lexus claims its the best one out there.

i'm curious as to what limitations you guys have experienced. what is wrong/inadequate about the awd on the 3gs and in what situation? under the same situations just mentioned how would audi's or subaru's awd system have performed?

that wasn't the reason for selling, but it was definitely disappointing that it wasnt an added feature. I didnt know the 07+ had mp3 capabilities either. the main reason for selling was to get rid of the car payment. i was just expressing my disappointment in those features, or lack there of.

cupholders were fine? and i said i am buying another lexus moron. i also expressed that the pontiac sunfire was a pos. so i never said it was a good car. the scion, while not luxurious at all, was a good car.

I didn't need awd in the first place as I live in az. but i got a good deal on it, and there werent any 2wd white gs' for a good price when i was buying. I didnt realize rolling diameter had to be the same all around, so if one tire blows, and your tires only have 50% left, you should be buying 4 new tires. also limits what staggered sizes you can run. I also didnt like that on the 2006 gs3 awd you couldnt easily turn off trac control. also, if you lower the car (which your choices are very limited) the car vibrates. i probably would have been happier with a 2wd, but as stated, I am trying to buy a house, so decided to get rid of the car payment so i can start saving and free up credit.

iocca, sorry to see you leave the 3GS family. but your priorities are right, so there's nothing wrong with that. perhaps one day you'll be back in a 3GS (or 4GS). good luck buddy!

Nothing wrong with it per se, it is just your typical AWD system which has a few faults. I thought the OP was referring to snow/ice traction issues and not what was actually mentioned.

The way it differs from more advanced ones is that it lacks torque vectoring that Acura's SH-AWD and Mitsubishi's S-AWC have, which use the wheels that have traction and not the ones that don't. I'm not sure what Subaru has, but its probably similar. I believe BMWs xDrive DPC on the X6 has torque vectoring as well. Not sure about Audi, I think they don't have something like that yet.

I don't know the details of either the Subaru or Lexus AWD systems but I own one of each. I can state beyond a doubt that if the weather is bad and traction is an issue, I would rather be driving the Subaru. It's not even close to as comfortable nor does it handle as well as the Lexus but the AWD grip is absolutely unbelievable.

im sure the subaru is split more evenly like 50/50 where as the lexus awd is 30/70
