iPod connectivity
Good afternoon, everyone. I recently purchased a 2007 GS350 in Chicago, and love it.
Reading through some of the posts here has been very instructive. One question I would like to put to anyone that might be able to help: I haven't been able to figure out how to connect my iPod to the car to play music. iPhone connects via bluetooth beautifully, but that obviously doesn't help with music. Is there not an auxiliary input? I used to drive a Maxima, and that is what I used.
Sorry for the long message. Thanks in advance.

Hi Binaryjay. I actually did, and I should have mentioned that so as to not tick anyone off (too late, I guess).
Anyway, I saw your Christmas Day response to someone with the same question, but I couldn't even locate the input. The poster said it was in the center console, but I couldn't find it.
There is a power input way in back of that console, but I didn't see an Aux input. Am I missing something?
Many thanks.

You can get a cheap unit from GROM for iPod (I opted for the direct USB drive adapter), or a more expensive one from Vais depending on what you want it to do.
Installation instructions are easily found on the forum. It involves removing some trim around the center console, the shift plate cover, and the head unit and plugging the new device into the factory harness.

Kitt,
Somewhat surprising that an 07 Lexus GS doesn't have a ipod connection standard. My friend bought a Mazda 3 a couple of years ago and it had an ipod connection...I guess Lexus thought the ipod was a fad and wanted to wait and see...lol.
Anyways, I will also be installing the Vaistech after I learn more about it. Lexus said they could install something for $900 which I laughed at when he told me. It sounds like Vaistech is much cheaper. Hoping it isn't too difficult.
