Default iPod Integration...30 PIN to Lightning Adapter Question

So my car has an aftermarket ipod integration system. There's a little mic that comes out the vents on the top of the dash and an iphone/ipod plug-in with the old 30 pin port inside the arm rest.

As far as I know once plugged in it allows you to control the music on your device from the stereo. Not really sure what the mic is for...

Question: If I bought a 30-PIN to Lightning adapter would I be able to hook-up my Iphone 6 and be able to play off my phone this way?

Don't want to place an order for an adapter unless I know it will work, or is at least worth trying. If anyone has had any experience or success with this please share.

Thanks

EDIT: It's a 2006 Lexus IS350

Can you post a pic? Are there any other adapters, ports, plugs, or displays hanging out in the glovebox or center console? Where in Illinois are you?

i had a similar thing on my 08 ISF. It came from the glove box with an old 30 pin adapter. I purchased a 30 pin to lightning adapter off of amazon and it worked. May be worth a shot. Currently have a 13 ISF so bluetooth is the way for me now.

I went to Best Buy and bought the same adapter. It didn't work. Once I plugged it in I figured it would at least charge it. Nothing.

However my iPhone recognizes that my phone is connected to a dock connector. Maybe I have to mess with the settings.

Whenever you plugged in did you have to switch to AUX?

UPDATE: Turns out the wiring got loose, probably from going over a bump or something. I pulled out the radio head to discover this and rewired everything back together tightly. The 30 pin to lightning adapter does work!

The unit is a GROM IPD-3 for anyone wondering.
