Default Need Ipod Help!!

So my wife has a 2007 IS250. it has the audio jack and 12v power in the center console under the armrest, which plays through the aux input in the stereo. I mounted a Sirius unit on the console which plays it's audio through that jack, and everything works fine. But when I try to play my ipod or her iphone through the same jack it doesn't work. It is like the stereo doesn't realize that there is audio coming into it, and it won't even switch to aux when I hit the button. Does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. And, by the way, I did search the forums but could not find the answer.

It sounds like an issue with the cable you are using to connect your iphone and ipod to the jack. Ideally you would want to use an ipod dock to 3.5mm plug. A 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable should also work, though the sound quality isn't quite as good. If you try to use a cable with a 2.5mm plug, it isn't long enough to press the contact that tells the audio system that something is connected, so it won't switch to AUX.

Try plugging your ipod or iphone to a power source... I got the same issue... my ipod needs to be charging for me to get it playing on my car...

Your problem is even more curious than the original poster's. I'll bet both of you would be fine with a cable like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-5mm-Retrac...ht_3533wt_1163 (which is sold by dozens of different sellers on eBay for a buck or two, shipped)
