This happened shortly after midnight last night, when my local volunteer fire departments reported this. These were taken with a cell phone, so sorry for the NOTso good pictures, but I wanted to share what they saw. This lady was heading somewhere in a hurry and was drunk as crap! She lost control of the 2006 GS in a curve at a high rate of speed and hit a telephone pole. It only cracked the pole. The car was cut completely in half except for about 6 inchs of metal from the floorboard. The odometer was stuck at 51 mph, and the passenger side airbag assembly was still intact and NOT deployed but was thrown over 20 feet from the car. When they arrived on scene they thought it was 2 cars involved, and no way it could be only 1.
She walked away without a scratch or nick, except from the handcuffs in the back of the Alabama State Troopers car! I will have more photos, but these were the only ones emailed to me. I wanted to share this, since I have a SC and most of my posts are here and not the GS section.

I believe the passenger airbag didn't deploy because there has to be someone sitting in the passenger seat for it to deploy. Newer cars have those sensors....
Pretty crazy crash and I cant believe someone came out of that alive. Way to start off the new year with a bang lol.

Unbelievable. I bet she didn't even realize she was too drunk to drive when she got in the car. This is why I have a strict policy - if I have my car with me, I have zero drinks.
this foolish mistake made by this lady could have cost someones life on a brand new beginning of a New Year.....hope she gets locked up for a while. i have no respect for drunk drivers, no matter who they are or what they drive.

that is really unfortunate. i still do not not understand why people still choose to drink and drive. way to mess up a great car, and on top of that, she'll probably serve time (maybe not in prison), but emotionally for the damages she caused with her reckless and selfish actions. i dont want to be coming off like an a$$, but it must be noted that those who get into these sort of accidents definitely deserve the consequences. bad things happen to bad people, and thank goodness that nobody else was close to this encounter.
