Default Gearbox Problem?

Today I was really frustrated due to major traffic where I got held up for almost an hour. After the road cleared, and after a roundabout, I switched to S-Mode, downshifted to Gear one, and accelerated. Immediately after I heard the engine rev, I upshifted and heard a massive SLAM. I even stopped to check if I slammed something and thankfully not. Now my guess would be something to do with the Gearbox since the road was clear and occurred after upshifting. I never experienced this since I rarely use S-Mode. Should I take it to the dealership or did someone experience this? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

not trying to be a smart *** but are sure the car was in S mode. I wonder of if you may have pushed it into nuetral while driving. Was there a big increase in rpm/rev after this happened

I doubt that I put it on Neutral but even if I did, thats not a reason to hear a slam isnt it? I didnt notice anything weird in the car after that happened thankfully.

Sounds like possibly a motor mount?

Very unusual for the Lexus. Maybe it's a glitch in our new 8 speed tranny?

You might have hit the rev limiter.

Yes, but that isnt a reason for the harsh slam. I honestly thought I got rear ended or something from that sort!

I hope it does not happen again =0! After the incident I did not even switch to S-Mode again!

if you're still in warranty, you should definitely try to do it again so you can take it into the dealership for warranty repairs before your warranty is up. If it was my car, I'd try my hardest to duplicate it.

Same with my SMG. ALso just recently had this problem with my 997 PDK

It's all electronic, seems like the tranny took a bit longer to adjust to the shifting for the Sport mode. I wouldn't worry too much if I were you!

If it happens more regularly, take it in and have them program it again.
