Default Gs300 2006 navigation question

Hello,

I will be picking up my car next week in Ontario, i've never driven it yet since i'm 8 hours part, but i did test drive a similar car in my dealership, but it does not have the navigation on it.

I've search a little bit about the Lexus 2006 navigation but have found nothing about it specifications: voice direction, detour, zoom in and out.......

The only GPS i have to compare is my Garmin nuvi 360. Does the Lexus have the same fonctionnality as the Garmin ?

thank you in advance.

I have both, the Nuvi is much easier to use, but once you get the hang of the GS its ok. The Lexus 06 Nav is more like the Garmn 350 w/o the smooth voice prompts that the 360 does so well. I would suggest logging into the Lexus owners link and set your profile up so you can download some of the instruction sheets, it will be helpful to read ahead on how to use it, as its not completely intuitive, at least in my opinion.

The voice commands are handy though, when it understands you and they work.

In my opinion, Lexus Navigation (and mine is '09) is just garbage, compairing to Garmin (Nuvi 200-series in my case). Not anywhere as user-friendly and clear.

Not true. Nav will prompt you 2 miles before each turn and sooner for shorter distances between turns. It also has day and night mode screens which changes depending on whether your headlights are off or on. You also can scale the map to meet your preference. Even down to seeing individual buildings. It's not as easy to use as my Garmin Nuvi750, but it works just a well.

I was speaking of text to speech and the ability to read street names, the Nuvi 360 has it, the 350 doesnt. it works more like the 350 in those terms. The 350 will tell you to turn left in 1/4 mile, the 360 will tell you to turn left on smith street in 1/4 mile.. handy if you dont know the neighborhood well.

You can operate the Navi from the GS via voice commands, although its hit and miss in my experience.

Overall its closer to a 350 as an average Navi, if it was closer to the 360 I would be happier. It does have BT integration, although its a effort to set up the phone book on an IPhone.

I doubt it will let you register a Canadian Car on the Lexus USA site. You need to go to lexus.ca and sign up for "Club Lexus":
https://www.lexus.ca/lexus/experienc...club_index.jsp
Make sure to enter your exact address as on the invoice...otherwise it doesn't let you register.

That is new to me and i wish to register. How do i subscribe: simply my VIN and address or i have to wait until the car is register by the dealership (how do i ask for it)

thanks.

When I bought mine, I had to wait a couple of days for the dealer to enter it in the system. After that, it would say "invalid address" until I typed it exactly as it was on the invoice (literally every single character had to be the same).
I'm guessing you have to either go to the dealership to register it (good idea because of TSBs and other things) or you have to contact the previous owner to somehow transfer it to you (there is an option to de-register a vehicle on the site).
I would just call Lexus Canada and ask them what to do. Otherwise, phone up a local dealer and ask them...I have no idea how you can prove you are the new owner of the car.
