Default Navigation Acuracy

So, on your new Lexus, is the navigation pretty accurate as to your current location?

For example, in one of our cars, the icon seems to lag behind the actual location by a little bit. It will show that you've just entered an intersection when in fact, you just went through it. It's not a huge deal, but mildly annoying. Does Lexus' do that?

How well does it tell if you've entered and exited a freeway? Again, not a huge deal, but just curious.

It is very accurate on my GS300. When aproaching the exits to freeways the screen splits
and the distance and turn direction are shown on the right split screen. I find it to be a very
intuitive system.

On the downside, the resolution of the screen is not as nice as in some other cars
(like the new IS). It is also not that simple to control in my opinion. it takes some
practice to get used to, especially if you're lazy like me and don't read the manual

Resolution and other minor quirks aside, I think it does its job and I am quite happy
with it. I don't think I can buy another car without this feature.

My friend used to work for Denso here in SoCal (he worked in the department that actually maps out the Toyota/Lexus NAV units). All POI's listed in the directory must be within 1/10th of a mile in accuracy.

It is more accurate than on my previous car (caddy). However, the voice recognition is completely useless!
"POI OFF!"
"Now showing Ski Resorts".
"POI OFF!!!"
"Zooming In"

POI OFF is actually one of the few commands that work really well for me! LOL!!!

The only ones that work well for me are :

"HOME"
"EIGHTY DEGREES"
"RESUME GUIDANCE"
"SUSPEND GUIDANCE"
"POI OFF"

Anything else is an adventure.

Hahaha, I feel you. It doesn't seem to like that command, nor the HOME command.

No problems, very accurate.

But as a previous poster mentioned, wish the GS had the high rez display that the new IS has.

Is the software the same on the IS?

Also, when showing a DVD movie, is it poor quality?
