Default Inquiries About My GS460!!

Just finished my break-in and took it for the first ever performance Test!!
Questions:-

1) I noticed that in the S Mode; the car shifts by itself near red-line?? IS that better? Or me shifting is better? IS there a way for me to shift instead of the car?

2)There are 2 Traction modes; TRC OFF and the one where a yellow car pops up; Whats the difference and which to use when in a race?

3) My car is almost in burnout mode until the end of the first gear when I attempt a full throttle start ; Is that normal? I thought there would be more GRIP.

4)Best way of launching the car? Brake-torquing with 2000 rpm's?

Thanks and Appreciate anyone attempting to answer :P

Is this a new or used car? You have more HP then I do in my 430 but I dont spin my tires taking off.

I drive my car in PWR mode and in D...It works for me

I find launching in power ETC, and traction control off yielded the best numbers. Where I live, there's a clean straight away that gave almost perfect traction. Even with traction control off, there was only a little wheel spin on take off...this is actually preferred over no slippage. If you experienced burnout all through your first gear, then it's either due to the pavement, or your tires. I have high performance tires on mine. They're quite sticky, but wear out quickly.

Also, I didn't bother with the manual shift, or power braking. If you want to shift it yourself, just slide the lever over to the "S" mode.

First question:

The sport mode hangs onto lower gears more, so it shifts at the redline for faster acceleration.
I believe.

SO I cant Shift By-myself??

Also; i spoke to the guy responsible for the cars maintenance. He told me that after a test drive with him, if its necessary, they are going to change tires. So the major question here is: Should I full throttle my car with him with TRC OFF ??? Or will he just give me the middle finger and leave ??

you do know that once in S, you can tap the shifter forward to upshift and rearward to downshift don't you? That is what the + and - markings on the shift console mean. That is the best you can do for "self shifting" in our vehicles. Have you read the manual?

It shifted by itself because thank goodness Lexus engineers programmed in some code to shift for you when you forget to do it. When you're in "S" mode, you're supposed to push the lever up before it red line. So, once you red line it, and you haven't shifted, the computer will shift for you or you've just turned your brand new GS460 into a big piece of paper weight.

WELL, i cant really shift coz when i try to, somehow i jump immediately to 3rd gear thanks to the computer who is in a race with me to see who shifts first..... Computer almost shifts near 6300 rpm's... MEH

P.S - I am not retarded to not know that i should push the lever up and down to shift lol...

I'd bet that almost always the computer shifting is better than you shifting.

I'd say TRC OFF but read the manual.

Full throttle start as in... Powerbraking at full throttle or full throttle from N then drop it in D?

Change the tires if you want more grip.

Shouldn't have bought it from the CHEAP dealership. Is that the only one you can find?

You've also asked a number of questions that could have been answered with 5 min of searching or googling. So far, that's all we have to establish what you do and don't know.
