Just got a new '08 GS450h and love it. Also love these forums!

Anyway ordered Vaistech iPod unit(video) and trying to figure out where I am going to put it in the car. In my last car (Acura TL) I had my iPod mounted which I liked for easy access.

Now I am thinking about placing the unit in the glove box or center console so I can get to it and choose videos when kids scream. I also noticed that the ashtray could make a good place for the iPod too.

Has anyone installed their iPods in the ashtray?

 

ive seen this over on the 2IS forums. The way IS and GS is, its almost the same. You should search it out over on the other subforum. Some are actually nice on the ashtray.

Oh yea i think i seen a DIY for it in the center console.

 

i have done it in both the glove box and center console. both can be done very clean

ashtray is also doable i guess, but to me it's harder and not as clean in terms of drilling holes

 

I have the Lexus OEM iPod kit for my 3GS and its great. I have mine mounted in the glove. It never really leaves the car. Even in the AZ insane temperatures
