How do I hook up an IPOD to play through the speakers?

There is a port there but my IPOD doesn't have anything to plug into it. I use the dummy cassette with a plug for the IPOD on the other cars.

Default MP3 Compatible

It is not a dedicated iPod port. It is a MP3 player port. I think this means you plug one side in the TOP of the iPod and the other in the console port.

This would be the same as connecting to your home stereo or FM Transmitter. I have not tried it yet, but that is the way I understand it.

Is this port standard on the LS?

The new LS460 has an aux port (miniplug) in the center console (also has a 12v outlet). I hookup my IPOD via a male-to-male miniplug-connecting the IPOD headset outlet to the console AUX port input. You then select the AUX port via the CD/AUX button on the radio unit. Works great with good sound quality

Just remember -- especially with the ML systems -- that the sound from the headphone jack is not the best way to connect your iPod. Since the signal has already been amplified for headphones, there is added distortion. The connector on the bottom of the iPod offers a true "line out" that can be accessed with products like...

The best sound output available from an iPod comes from the 30-pin port on the bottom of the player. Merely connecting from the headphone jack at the top of the iPod with a cassette adapter or mini cable won't achieve this level of sound quality.

i agree, it's nothing more than a normal AUX port, it's nothing specific to "mp3" at all, so sound quality could be degraded. honestly after learning that there is no real ipod connectors, i kinda told myself just put in mp3 cds

Does the DLO product cable have a male connector on the other end of the 30 pin connector which will plug into the jack in the center console? I can't tell for sure by the description.

I think you use a conventional 1/8" male/male audio cable to connect the DLO to the car...

I just saw some cable for the ls on ebay. just do a search. $13.00+ shipping. Kind of pricy for a cable.
