Default glovebox removal

does anyone know how to remove the glovebox out of a 2006 GS, know of a thread that shows you how, or have a diagram of it? I will be installing the ipod adaptor from Vais sometime this week, and I'm wanting it run the ipod cable threw my glovebox. I'm trying not to rip anything out that doesn't need to be.

Thanks

I couldn't figure it out. so i ran the vais wire under the center console, cut a very small notch in the front of the storage compartment and i keep my ipod in there. the notch is covered from above by the console itself so it's not visible unless you open the top and look for it. turned out to be a reasonable plan b for me. something to consider if you don't crack the glovebox riddle.

i don't think you have to remove it?

some guys on here put their ipod in the glove box.

here are the instructions to disassemble the whole dashboard & center console box, if you like

well maybe not remove it but i couldn't figure out how to get a pass through big enough to fit the wire/ipod connector into the glovebox. i think if you really want to remove the box you get into dealing with the airbag under there and didn't want to get close to that. maybe i missed an obvious solution.

I think when the factory do it they run it through the glovebox. I'm trying to figure out where it will be easiest to do my drilling. Since I'll probably have to drill a hole to run the wire. The center console will be ideal for me also. I just hope the wire is long enough to reach there. I guess we'll see tonight when I start this project. Thanks guys for your help, and the link to that pdf. Good Stuff

some ipod adapters give you 6' cables. long enough to reach the center storage box.

here's what I'd do. i dunno if it's doable:
strip the wire, cut it in half. make small hole in storage box. string broken wire through small hole. splice broken wire back together underneath the wood veneer.

i'd also try to find some kind of circular bracket to clip onto the wire so that it won't slide in and out of the hole. gives it a more integrated look.
