hmmm...if you try all the things you said...i suggest you take to a good body shop and have them take a look at it...i don't think they will charge you for that....they would also tell you if your car has been in an accident.

did Lexus tell you any sort of info as in if the car has been in an accident or did they tell you to take it to their body shop?

damn that's a huge gap. maybe it was invovled in a light fenderbender.

the hood is over $500 unpainted

maybe you can remove it and bend it a little

how flexible is it? if you sit on the front edge, does the gap close up?

Is there an adjustment on the hood's latch?

this almost has to be an adjustment issue....perhaps the latch can be lowered somehow, take it to a body shop and have it looked at

i think there should be a vin sticker on the hood, if you do find a vin sticker, then the hood has not been replaced before. the hood is made out of alum so it's best that you don't bent it. the latch will not adjust the gaps on the hood.

get back about 15 feet...take a light sprint and about 3 feet from the car take a jump with a half twist. center your body (make adjustments on the fly) to land on the center front part of the hood.

repeat as needed.

LOL, bending the hood in any way whatsoever is obviously out of the question
