Alright guys, check this out. I went to Firestone to get my aftermarket rims and tires installed this morning. As I am driving home, the "low tire" light comes home. So, when I get home I check out the tires and everything looks good. I call Firestone and was like WTF. They told me they did not transfer my TPMS sensors over becasue they said the sensor would eventually break. I think is BS. What I should do about this? Here are the tire sizes I am running:
BS or not it depends on your rims. not all rims are TPS compatible, if they aren't, then indeed you risk damaging them very easily
totally agree...but they still should give his TPMS senoor back to him or let him know what the result without it. Don't suprise the customer on the drive home !!! Those TPMS sensor are $$$ ...
rominl, is there a way to tell if rims are compatible or not? Do you think companies like SSR / Work make all their wheels TPMS compatible?
thanks
P.S
To OP, sorry to hijack your thread like this

yes and no. ssr and work wheels HAVE tps compatible versions now, but you shouldn't assume they are tps compatible right out the badge. it's not until maybe early or middle of 07 that jdm companies come out with tps compatible wheels. so you should always ask your vendors

most definitely, but i was confused. he got aftermarket wheels put on, where are the stock wheels. since he got 20s, that means he's not reusing the stock tires, so maybe the shops are still having the stock wheels?
tsavo...doesn't that "low tire" sign and warning light annoye you? Its been less than 12 hours, and it drive me crazy.
Now that you mention it, the low tire light isn't on. It was last year, they might have switched the sensors and not told me, or somehow disabled the sensor. I'm going to call today and find out what happened because he told me they did not switch the sensors.
I have the OEM wheels and tires in my garage. I called Firestone, and they're going to transfer the sensors free of charge. I feel so relieved.
they are going to transfer that's good ,but still i think you should make sure your aftermarket wheels are tps compatible so they are installed properly
