Default Trunk making weird noise when closing

So I picked up my Dad from the airport yesterday and put his luggage in the trunk, it was a tight squeeze but everything seemed to fit. Today I get something from the trunk and as it closes it makes a squeaking noise at the end of its normal sound. What can it be? Someone please help.

If you have some spray lubrication...try spraying on there. I'm assuming you might have overpack your trunk and got the motor on the trunk mess up. I have a 06 GS430 and i notice it has a motor that close it by itself when i just push down...instead of slamming it...kinda like what mercedes has.

you probably caused too much stress on the latch

don't you just hate these stupid gizmos?

you should just go to the dealer and have it replaced under warranty.

yeah that thing is fragile and complex. just look at it. it has a rotating motor and crap.
and you know lexus gear motors suck, like the ones they have in the side mirrors.

and it's the most useless thing in the GS, considering that it doesn't have an automatic trunk closer.

The user's manual tells you not to use too much force when closing the trunk.

That soft close motor is tiny, I cant imagine it would withstand too much force.

Default Question on Trunk opening?

I apologize for threadjacking, but my question is on trunk opening.

I will either use the trunk release button from inside the car or from the remote if I am approaching my car. Upon release of the trunk, the lock disengages then I manually open the trunk by lifting on what feels like rubber near the license plate. But after I lift the trunk open the latch on the trunk part starts closing and opening and making a whirring noise at the same time.
Its hard to explain, but is this a normal condition?

Thanks guys

I had an equally strange noise (sounding like tightening a screw on metal really tightly) at the end of the closure of the trunk. It developed while the car was at the dealer's regular service less than 2 weeks ago. I sprayed lubricant to the closure latch and its counterpart on the trunk lid. Made no immediate difference. Until yesterday, when the noise was clearly more muted and finally today totally disappeared. Works as before now.
