Coming fresh out of a 3yr relationship with an Audi A6 3.2 into my first Japanese car in 20 yrs I must say I was bit apprehensive. I see quite a few of you also own BMW’s & Mercedes so you know its tuff to give up that European driving experience. There is something about European sports sedans that Japan has not been able to fully duplicate. Not to mention I had full access to every nav and radio feature without having to go thru contorted bypass procedures just to get what they should let you have access to in the first place.
That being said I must say there is something extremely pleasurable and serene about driving this car its so quiet but has the juice when you really want to drive it hard, I didn’t even have 50 miles on the car when I couldn’t resist pushing it up to 100mph for a short stint. Its stable and smooth in turns with minimal body roll and the brakes are acceptable. The seats are fantastic, very very comfortable with plenty of adjustments. When you’re a car guy there is nothing better than the smell of new leather. I just want to get in it and drive it every minute. I am sure the novelty will wear off at some point but for now, as with most new relationships, I am in total lust.
I needed a little adjustment period coming from a modified G35. I hated the brakes on the car when I first got it. It took me a while to get used to the new modulation of the lexus brakes. I am pretty happy with car now that I have put my touch on the car.
Yea im really thinking the run flats have to come off...whats the purpose of putting run flats on a car that has a spare in the trunk ? My vette had run flats but the car had no spare when i took them off there was a marked difference in the ride and handleing.

I thought the handling is supposed to be better with the run flats because they have stiffer side walls. I remember reading that several manufacturers are doing this for their "sport" version of their vehicles.
But, I agree with you that they are much harsher on the ride, and noise. That's why I made it part of the deal before taking the car.

ejvette, I just did the opposite as you. I traded my GS350 AWD for a 08 A6 3.2. Athough I dont agree with most of comparisions, lets not get into that Enjoy your new ride.
Hey G Man don't get me wrong i really loved my 06 A6 it was a fantastic ride and your going to love it. I was plagued with some electrical issues that the dealer resolved each time. Your still going to have the break dust issue on the front wheels. I just like a different car every 3 yrs and there was no Mercedes or BMW that i wanted in my price range so i fugured what the hell lets try the Lexus. I find i really like the car..whodathought
You are right, the brake dust is pretty bad on the A6, but those brakes are fantastic. IMO, Audi makes the best brakes in the business. The 05 A6 had a bunch of electrical issues, but they all have been rectified in the 08 model.
On a side note, the brake dust was actually worst on my GS before I change the pads to low dust.
The GS is a fantastic car, if you are one of the lucky ones to buy one without rattles and squeaky brakes.
doesn't matter, when you want awesome performing brakes, you are just gonna have to deal with the dust. It's just the by products of the soft grippy pads. I've had about 4 different "dustless" pads on my ex bmw, the performance difference is just dramatic.
believe me, for true enthusiast to driving, they do not care about the dust, only those with aftermarket wheels will care in the bmw world.
and of course, every single lexus owner on here =)
