Maybe sales are better in the warmer climates but seem to be dead in my area.

Hard saying, but I've asked the question earlier this week. If they could supply a well equipped GS-F in the 75k market I think it would have a relatively good chance ( I'm certainly a buyer). A loaded IS-F comes in at 61k by comparison.
We will have to keep an I on the release of the new 09 CTS-V in October, which has 556hp and starts at a base of 65k (I think).
I see IS-F's here in Phoenix on occasions, but they were in limited supply to begin with. Each of the 2 dealers I frequent have 1 left each, where they originally had 3+ each. This could reflect a regional bias.
I honestly don't know. Looking at the economic disaster we are seeing and with the latest round of auto info, seems tons of these German cars are leased, which helps sales. Lexus has a substantially lower lease rate in comparison.
Also with this disaster, well the market for these types are cars shrinks. Lexus being the newcomer has the toughest chance here, people think Lexus and they simply think LS or RX...not "F", even with the IS-F having superb reviews.
Then the price would be 80k I would think as the car more than likely has a V-10 shared with the LF-A. Lexus has no base price advantage over the M3 or C63, only with options does it seem like the better deal.
It also depends on sales targets. The IS-F seems to be on pace to reach its 5k a year sales goal. The GS-F would likely have lower targets that it might be able to reach.
To be honest, the 3GS just doesn't have the "spark" or interest the 2GS had. The 2GS was the "bad boy" Lexus and really caught the publics attention. The 3GS is a better car overall but with increased competition and Lexus IMO "holding back", it doesn't have the same "spark". I think a GS-F wouldn't really help much.
I think with the 4GS, Lexus knows they have to go and hit a grandslam, as they don't have to only worry about just the Germans, but now Infiniti and Jaguar and others. A 4GS, GS-F would be icing on the cake!!!!
At this time Lexus doesn't need the GS-F. It won't sell much.
IS_F are not selling. M3's are sitting on lots, C63's, which are sold in very limited numbers are starting to be discounted.
They can achieve close to the same thing with a sports package on the GS line. Better brakes, better suspension and a body kit option on the entire GS line.
There's no chance of a GS-F anyway until the 4GS, & that would be in 2011 as a 2012 model at the earliest I think.
If they want to make a GS-F, I think it won't be until 2012 the earliest, hopefully, the economy & the high end lux.-car market would be much better than it is now.
I do hope we will see a GS-F for the 4GS, & if they do it properly, I think it can sell in decent #'s ...

However, Lexus hasn't announced the engine, or even made the supercar official, but Toyota was said to be considering either the V-10 or a twin-turbo version of the LS sedan's V-8. The new V-10 was to be Toyota Formula 1-based, but that series now uses a V-8, and the street engine has been developed with diminished connection to the racing engine.
