Default Nav System questionable

I have had the GS for about 2.5 months now. I am not a fan of the Nav system. When I input some addresses it comes back the "not a real address" message. They are real and current addresses. I had a RL before and it never refused to find an address. Am I doing something wrong? I also have a tomtom and it always takes the input info. I am finding this irritating not to mention that Lexus doesn't think you as a driver can operate the system on the fly. I don't feel comfortable taking the console apart to bypass the Nav "safety". I will have to rely on Google Maps to be sure of my destination.

Make sure you have the region set correctly. I had the same problem with my LS430 until I made this correction.

How old is the street that you're looking for? Also when you're entering the street name, is it a N, E, W, S type of street or not? (N. Main St)

Acura has a great Navi compared to Lexus. Could be the way you are entering it also. IMO the system in general is more user friendly in all the Acura models. You will get used to the set up in your Lexus.

Might just be the GS nav. The ES350 has a real nice nav. The RX350's is noticeably worse than the ES one. I'm not overly familiar with the GS nav, but I'm thinking it's prolly one of the older ones if you're having that much trouble with it.

08 has the newest gen already including the map. if the streets are within the past 3 yrs, i say maybe it's not there. if the street is there already, then you are probably doing something wrong

what i usually do is put in the street name (without E W S N and maybe only with av, bl, st), and then press on city and put in the city name. almost always i get what i want

The current GS and the current ES have the same exact nav which is Gen 5. It was the 2006 that was the only one that had Gen 4 which is the older version, but had most of the same functions.

I have thad the same problem in my car. what you need to do is to spell out the direction of the street as well in the street name section. example if the address is 1234 w. bell rd, what we need to do is type in the 1234 for street number then when the street name comes up you need to type in west bell rd. In my last car (g35) all you needed to do was to tpye in bell rd then all of the possible dirction come up. try I think it will work
