Yeap I read that... So you think they'll put out a TL more powerful than their so called flagship RL?... It really is kinda pathetic for acura not to have a v8 6 speed automatic dont ya think? Acuras are good cars tsx is a bargain but still underpowered. Acura almost falls behind in every category compared Lexus,MB,BMW. Im glad it can still sorta best a Hyundai? lol

Acura does say the SH-AWD will have the most powerful engine they've ever built so it will have more than the RL's and '09 TL's 300 HP.
I'd guess around 350 HP.
It may not matter much to some but the RL at 300 HP only has a 16-22 MPG rating.
That bigger engine better stay the same or have better numbers.
I like Lexus,BMW and Audi over Acura but would definitely buy an Acura over a $36K Hyundai,at this point anyway.

Default 350 Hp????

Acura had to up the ante with the Genesis already here and kicking on Acura's door. I don't really think the Acura shopper is really going to consider Hyundai too much either, but with SH-AWD and over 300 hp (I'm guessing 325 tops, not 350) it will do itself good.

Genesis wise, I think it will do well for the mid-size vanilla sedan buyers ready to go up one notch in size and quality.

350hp Acura TL? WOW thats a little hard for me to believe coming from a HONDA engine. Im in no way knocking honda engines take a look at the 2.2liter S2K engine putting out a whopping 240hp. If acura claims the TL will have the most powerful engine they ever built then their so called FLAGSHIP RL will have a weaker engine than its lower model TL. hmm interesting we'll have to wait and see, its hard for me to believe that but anythings possible look at Hyundai with a V8 375hp and 6 speed automatic in 2008. Who wouldve thought even 5 years ago Hyundai would really come out with it. I sure didnt think so but they really did. The 09 Genesis is out already and its forreal 375hp v8 and 290hp v6. Your claimin that the 350hp Acura TL if it comes out will be the same price as the v6 Genesis around 36k? Thats a little hard to believe also but we'll have to wait and see for that too.

BMW owners defend Lexus because they don't see it as competition.

I'm guessing the engine will be around 350 HP.320 HPor so isn't very impressive.
The cost of the SH-AWD will no doubt be around the $43K .The same ridiculous cost for a Genesis V8 model. The 300 HP TL List is about the same as a V6 290 HP Genesis.FWD vs RWD,though.
In the winter climate states, sales of the Genesis will be very low.

Do you work for Acura? 350hp is impressive from the TL. I dont know why you dont think it is. Which is why I doubt the 350 from the TL in 09, BUT even if they come out with a 320hp you'll just end up saying thats plenty for me. Instead of backing up your 350hp claim. Right? Just like your claim of the CTS4 3.7liter 304hp was 41k lol

Sales will always lack with a RWD in the winter climate states. Thats a given. Thats why I picked the AWD GS for the same reasons why you picked yours.

In the end you will end up picking your ugly FWD TL and I guess ill be the only one picking my "cheap" (according to you) Hyundai Genesis . lol

Come on now..

303 HP is enough for me.

The TL would be my choice.
Deal with it!
I'm not a Hyundai fan.
BTW,I'd choose CTS Direct Injection 3.6L 6cyl w/304 over the Genesis in a heartbeat too.
Nicely equipped for $41K discounted.List price starts at $36K.

We both own a GS so we're in a position thats easy to say we'd take this over that. Im not trying to convince you to get a Hyundai, Im just proving its not that bad of a car as you make it seem like. If you can live with the ugly grill on the TL and IF they ever come out with the 350hp TL I will go test drive it to see if it handles as well as you claim it will.

Check your numbers again, its a 3.7liter direct inject the 3.6liter is not direct inject, AND the car I test drove last week sticker price was 58k and some change. =)

Also Forgot to mention..... Price your CTS with the options that come on the GENESIS and see if it matches up.. Youve got to be kidding me. That 36k price tag for the CTS is base! lmao

I never said the Genesis was a bad car.I just wouldn't spend $40K on a Hyundai at this point.
Volvo makes great car too but I wouldn't buy one either.
As far as the 3.6 or 3.7L,you're right.Odd but Edmunds seems to have it wrong.I thought the 3.6L had about 265 HP.
I wouldn't buy a TL.
I said given the choice between a TL and Genesis....I would go TL.
As far as 350HP in a SH-AWD...it's a guess on my part.I don't claim it will handle well.Acura says it will be more driver oriented or something like that.

The Genesis at $36K will peak the interest mostly with loaded Camry,Accord and some American badge buyers but then again $36K without NAV is high.
I believe there will be big discounts and/or rebates with the Genesis in the near future.

I bet you can buy a $41K list CTS for $36-$37K and get low financing too.
