I imported a GS350 2006 from Japan, and now having problem with the cd player coz the language is totally japanese.. Anyone knows how exactly to fix this problem?
Should i buy just the cd player part?
Or the whole centre console?
Does anyone know if lexus is willing to sell that part without providing VIN number?
it's not only the button, every word IN IT is japanese.. the lexus dealer in our town is no help at all, as they dont have this model of lexus(only GS300).
Whlkev, u think changing the console will cost thousands?? omg..
I hope the problem can be fixed by replacing the parts , but I am pretty sure you could Lexus customer service they might be able to help ypu. Or call lexus japan. Good luck with it man
Does the NAV and voice control speak to u in Japanese? You have a big problem my friend. My guess is that you have to change the whole center stack electronics, which can cost 4 or 5 thousand.

Wow! The things we just don't think about...This makes me wonder what the recognition accuracy is like with tonally complex languages. It's got to be pretty bad.
As far as the NAV unit, they are made by different suppliers for each country. So unfortunately the nav brains and navigation screens are not interchangeable. What you will need to do is source an AUS-Spec NAV brain and nav screen either new or used and change out the JDM system you have. So in essense, it's the same thing for the navigation disc map and such, they are not interchangeable as they are regional specific.
JDM cars do not have a 17 digit vin number like they are issued in North America, specifically the US and Canada. If you look at the info plate on the driver's side b pillar/lower center post, you will see that the information differs from country to country. This is what it looks like for us here in the US:
