Default Need help: Lexus/OEM IPOD intergration kit

Hi, I own 2006 gs300 navi/ML. I installed the kit purchase from Sewell and it plays music great but the navi controls are flickering and I cant navigate to any of the 6 standard options to navigate the IPOD controls.

BTW, I dont remember but is there one empty plug on the bottom? "Blue" Bottom right if youre looking at the LCD side.

Another odd thing I notice is my ipod shows the Symbol showing its activated but it says "ok to disconnect" and doesnt say any of the standard messages on the IPOD or LCD

THanks for any assistance!

I dont believe there is supposed to be an empty plug. sounds like a wire popped out when you pulled the navi.

Flickering issue / the loss of control is definitely a loose connection. Push in the plugs better.

I double check the connections and everything is seated in, but for the life of me I'm not sure if there was one socket left empty. Anyone remember? Thanks

i think that blue socket had a blue wire with a square plug in it. when i installed the override plug n play kit for the nav, had to disconnect that wire, insert the kit plug and plug the original wire into the other end of the kit harness.

Thanks for the input but for the VAIS is there a relay you attached to the exisiting plugs? Cause I didnt add or remove any connections? At least I think I didnt miss anything....

i also have 06 GS300 with navi and ml. for the vais hookup i unplugged the 12 pin connector that would be in the lower right (passenger) side of the head unit when you look at it as if it were in the dash. remove lexus plug, attach vais harness, put the lexus plug on the other end of vais harness. not the same as that blue square plug you mentioned before.

Thanks for your input Greg!

Just got off the phone with Sewell and they told me eventhough its listed under 06 gs300 its not compatible with our make and model. Just order VAIS from the GB

I have the same lexus oem kit. Ive had it for a while. The flickering is a problem. The " ok to disconnect " reading on the screen of the ipod while its plugged in is totally normal. Mine says the same thing on mine. I havent had any issues at all with my unit. I hope you get it sorted. good luck man

i have the vais and it is workmanlike. no flickering etc. plays well, touch screen control, text display but for an 06GS gen 4 it comes in via the cd changer mode so. 'disc' numbers represent play lists. (you don't lose cd capability, it just emulates that look/feel) was hoping more for an ipod emulation. display buttons for playlists by name etc. the firmware upgrade they just did is for gen5 systems only. all due respect to our sponsor, i'd give scosche a look.

The Scosche unit doesn't appear to allow for control via steering wheel mounted buttons...

I had an ipod adapter before the lexus oem kit was available that also wouldnt let me control the tracks from the steering wheel. I changed it out for the lexus oem kit. Much better
