Default Reliability issues on the GS 350AWD?

I'm looking at the GS and have been reading some magazine articles and some people online saying that the GS has some reliability issues.Rattles, suspension issues, audio issues etc.
Are these reliability issues exaggerated or is there some problems?
I know IS models have had dash rattle issues.

I'm trying to make up my mind on the purchase of a '08 GS or '09 IS 350.

Didnt hear anything about audio issues or any real problematic suspension issues but I know there has been rattles in the dash but those can be fixed. I personally have not had a rattle yet and I have 4000 on the dash today.

I can see it being pretty annoying but for those things to be considered RELIABILITY issues compared to other car makes/models problems, These are minor IMO. Good luck in your decision between the 08gs and 09is350.

Thanks,1989Lexus.
It's a tough call.I just wish the GS had a smoother ride.

Smoother ride? The GS is pretty darn smooth with is soft suspension, You could go up one and go with the LS, which is way smoother but, also you can try the ES if you want.

Compared to a 5 series, which is a little stiffer on the suspension, the GS is pretty smooth.

The GS's ride can be smoother considering it doesn’t corner that well. The 5 series and the Infinity M is way stiffer than the GS, while the RL is about the same but handles a bit better, maybe due to the SH-AWD. IMO the Audi A6 had the best compromise between handling and ride comfort.

Before doing the paperwork,I talked to my service manager of whom I have a good realtionship and asked about the reliability of the GS.
He said the only problem he sees now on occasion is the dash rattle issue. He said felt is added to certain areas and there's a windshield clip problem that easily resolved.
Other than that, the car is solid. No AWD vibrations and such that happened to a few GS's in the past.

There is also a starting problem in which a few owners havent been able to start their car in the 1st or 2nd try. Lexus had already came out with a TSB for that. Other than that, there is the brake dust TSB and thats about it. I would not called any of these problem reliability issues.

Good Luck with your new GS

I"ve had my GS350 for 11 months and 12,600 miles. I"ve had NO issues other than brake dust, and the TSBI fix cured it. Good luck!

I've had my 07 GS350 AWD for 18 months and 20,000 miles. I had the dash rattle, but got it fixed as well as the brake dust problem. Other than those, it has been problem free.

Very Reliable!
