I was just wondering if anyone had their car detailed at their Lexus dealership before. I wanted to if its any good because tomorrow I'm taking in my 08GSawd350 so they can remove the winter tires and put back on the performance tires. Should I do a Lexus detail or no? I've heard in the past that your car comes out with scratches. Has anyone heard or experienced this? And whats your rating on the detail?

Our ES350 was detailed at the dealership and I was satisfied with the results. No swirls at all on the SGM finish. It was a complete interior and exterior job, including the engine. The dealership called it White Glove Detailing. I'm not sure it that's a dealer specific name or if all Lexus dealerships use that name. I think the regular cost was $199. Mine was included (once) with the purchase of the car.
Whether a car gets swirls or not is due in big part to the detailer and the equipment they use. You might look around the lot at their CPO's and see how the finishes look - Or check out other cars being detailed. Good luck.
i am not 100% about canada, but most dealerships they outsource their detailing jobs to 3rd party companies anyway. imho might as well find a good local detailer
Where are you in Canada? I would tend to agree with the previous poster regarding dealers outsourcing detail work to not necessarily the best outfit out there.
If you are near Toronto I can recommend the detailer who did my car - highly endorsed by autopia.org (that's about the highest endorsement you can get) - this guy is amazing. Not cheap mind you but he really knows what he is doing and loves doing it. I was very pleased with the job - he even posted pictures of 'before and after'. Take a look.
Please be aware that I in no way represent him - just that I had some very so-so previous experience with so-called 'detailers' and was delighted to have a meticulous professional job done on my GS. Send me a private message if you want and I'll fill you in.
The Lexus dealerships around here all outsource compounding work (afaik). The in house work is normally a tunnel wash and some glaze. I figure we all know to decline dealer washes by now.
