Default Touch up paint?

Hi guys,

Well I had the GS for only 3 weeks now and I forgot to take the garbage cans out to the curb last night. This morning, they were out there, in my town, if you don't pull them out, the garbage men pull them out for you. There is now 2 light scratches in the front of my car by the headlight and in the back by the rear door. I have black paint and now you can really see them if you look hard. I know this is my own fault because i should have remember to pull them out and regular people don't care about a brand new black car in the driveway. Is there any black touch up paint I can use to fill this in. I went to avoid the dealer because i know they will want probably 4 or 500 to do this for me. Thanks in advance. By the way, I had my Pontiac parked there for 4 years and this rarely happened, when you get a new Lexus, its like people aim for it.

just get the touch up paint from dealership, they won't know what happened to your car

also, if it's light scratches (seems like so coz' you said it's hard to see), then touch up might not work well. maybe try to buf it and see if it makes things better

thanks guys, i just called the dealer and its only 10 bucks for the touch up paint. Probably going to pick it up today and hope it looks good when i'm done. I hate having to do this already, i only had the car 3 weeks. I set my cell phone to ring every night at 8:30PM so i can take out the garbage lol.

touch up is gonna look nastier than the scratches if you don't apply it right

I agree with rominl. Try to buff it first. Touch up paint, although you can get a small bottle from a dealer, might not work to well.

touchup paint are usually good for chips or so. on scratches it's very hard to "fill in", especially when you don't want to put on too much which makes things even more visible

Depending on the size of the scratch, buff out as much as you can...I then would try Langka to smooth it out so it matches the surface.

Check out the Auto Detailing forum in CLexus for more info...search for scratch removal or Langka.

Finally if you order it, know that you can save money by doing the following:

A. Buy Mother's private label version of it for $8-$9

or

B. Buy from Langka ...but buy the blob eliminator only ($25) ...NOT the whole kit. At $45-50, the "kit" is a sham...they just include alcohol as the "special prewipe" and wax as the "special sealant".

Good luck and sorry this happened to you.

One last thing...you can go to YouTube for videos of this.

Thanks guys, you were right, the paint is too thick for the light scratches and the paint would make it look worse. I just buffed and waxed it and it made it alot lighter.
