Its hit or miss, some DI engine are louder than others. I have no complain of ticking noise on my GS, inside or outside of the car. Now, rattle noise, thats another story
Hi Guys, I am in the process of buying a 07 IS350 and heard the noise. Aside from being annoying, is there any reason not to a buy a IS with the ticking noise? Could the ticking noise lead to other issues down the road? Is it better to avoid an IS with the ticket noise?
The vehicle I am interested in buying is a great deal.
The ticking noise is normal. It's coming from the Direct Injection system. All DI system makes ticking noise. No matter if it's a Lexus, Audi, Mercedes Benz, BMW, etc...

Holy 10 year thread resurrection! But the ticking noise shouldn't scare you. 2000PSI driven off the camshaft is going to make some noise. Just make sure you do 5k OCIs with a synthetic 5w30 and you should be fine. And our DI on the 3.5L is no doubt the best in the business. There is a second set of injectors cleaning the intake valves. The GS/IS w/3.5 is one of the best used cars you can buy, and I did much research. Wish I could find the equivalent in a woman!
Thank you all for your comment and input I feel so much better about my 11 GS350.I thought something was wrong,I do luv the power ! I did notice a lot of dyna mat and engine covers which tell me Lexus knew it would be noise !! I’ve been chasing this ghost for years trying cleaners and additives with no avail, next time I will do more research when I purchase a car. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
