I have the plug and play kit for nav and DVD overrides. When i play dvds (video), i have to crank the volume setting up a lot higher than for radio, cd or sat. have to remember to bring it back down before changing modes. i never played dvds before i put in plug and play. Am wondering if it was related to kit. Anybody else experience this?
it's always the case when you play dvd (on dvd players, computer, etc...) that's just how they are, volume is always lower. you finding this new?!
I never played dvds in the car before i installed the kit so don't have a comparison. and other than doing a quick test to see that the override worked, i didn't run the dvd in the car until recently. Have the vol cranked up to the 30s near 40 for dvd and less than half that often for other audio in the car. I've never noticed that big a difference when using a standalone player or computer drive but i haven't really tried to measure it. it just wasnt so much that i thought to look like it has been in the car.
I did the Nav/DVD rewire w/ a [mounted] switch hack and there is no volume change between modes. Sounds like the wiring harness adds some resistance and reduces the output, forcing a volume adjustment.

no.... the overrides has nothing to do with the audio quality...
