thoughts - switching from GS to american
I don't know what got into me, but I realize now why I bought the GS in the first place... I just got a Yukon Denai, and what they charge you for, they give you this crap:
1. Nav - The on screen graphics are horrible, and are a lil hard to follow
2. Sounds- The Bose System is subpart to the ML by a large margin...
3. General - GX drives more like a car, this drives like a truck...
4. Quality - With all the added features, I am just waiting for something to break (i.e. rear liftgage)
5. Key/ remote - HORRIBLE... I wish I could switch my Lexus fob for it...
6. Other - I thought it'd be cool to get the rear entertainment system, but sitting in back, it's not that great to watch a movie from that position. Headrest monitors would have been a better idea...
Other than that, I do like the power, and I do like the look of the Denali... Let's just hope it lasts.....

Congrats on the new ride!
My gf's father has a new Suburban and I think it's a very nice vehicle as well! It doesn't have the rear entertainment system but I do understand the position of it might cause some neck discomfort.
I like the look of the Denali as well, considering that as a second vehicle actually!

For all the bad American cars of the '80's and '90's, we have to be honest and say that American cars are much much better in quality and reliability. I've sat in the AMC Acadia, and the Buick Lucerne and they're definitely better than American cars of old. The question now is, the Japanes and Germans have also gotten better in the same period, so does price then factor into the equation because American luxury is, in some cases, significantly lower, than their imported counterparts.
Honestly, I'd still buy an ES over the Lucerne... but of course my eyes are targeting on the GS350AWD.

My preference is, when it comes to trucks and SUV's, American is the way to go. I like the trucks that GM makes, and I expect a truck to drive like a truck. That's why it's no surprise to me that a Suburban does not drive like a car. It's obviously built on a truck chassis, so I expect it to drive that way.
When it comes to cars, however, I will stick with Lexus. Trucks and SUV's are my only exception for crossing back over to American... GM in particular.

I agree, in test driving the Denali, it WAS a truck.. Still, in driving the GX, I felt comfortable with all the great Lexus styling... One example, the Denali glove box is hard plastic... The hard thing was the GX is really expensive for what it is. Plus its definitely due for a re-design... Anyhow, I am happy, but HAPPIER with the 3GS....
