I do it all the time with no problems. In fact, I have put my keys on the passenger seat with my cell phone connected to a charger and haven't had any issues at all. FWIW, this is the same Blackberry Pearl that causes all of the interference problems with the Plantronics wireless headset at my office.

Today, I finaly belive that this is an issue. I was driving my 06 GS 300 and was coming to a stop light near my house and had my cell and fob in the same jacket pocket. A voice mail alarm came in and the engine died.
I had to put it in neutral and hit the start button again to the start the car. That's the last time the fob goes anywhere near the phone.

I don't think it's related. Since we are talking about radio interference being the issue, the key and cell phone should have nothing to do with your engine shutting off. Even if you were to toss your key out the window and drive away (essentially the same as complete interference/loss of your key's transponder signal), your car would not shut off until you push the "START/STOP" button. The GS does not have remote start/stop and the ignition is physically on the car. The transponder merely tells the car that you have permission to start the engine. You don't need permission to shut off the engine nor will the car do it for you. Could you imagine the consequences if this were the case. Remote battery dies and your engine shuts off at the next intersection?
