Question Phone Interference with Key Fob Detection

Most times when I have my key fob or wallet fob behind my Samsung Note 2 phone in the same pants pocket, it sometimes does not get detected by the CT. I have the same problem with my RX. Not a big deal as I just place my phone in my other pocket and no issues.

Curious if anyone else has the same interference issues, with the same or different phone, and any hunches as to why?

yes, same thing here w/ an iPhone 5. i have them in my purse together sometimes. now i just try to keep the key in my pocket and the phone in my purse.

it's normal interference and i believe discussed in the manual as well. happens on our mercedes too and any other car we've had with keyless go. it's especially sensitive with the door handles not unlocking. the push button start doesn't seem as picky about them being together but sometimes i have gotten the Key not detected error.

Good to know. Was thinking perhaps the battery in the fob is weak and needs replacing.

I've always kept my key fob in my pocket away from my phone just because I don't want my keys to scratch my phone, but it's good to know that there would be interference if they were together.

My iPhone interferes in the same way. No biggie don't think it's damaging anything.

My wife also experienced very early battery failure of her credit card style fob. She kept it in a holder next to her iPhone. The fob battery would die after less than 2 months. It seems the phone causes the fob to communicate and drain the fob battery.

She now keeps them separate and 10 months later the fob battery is going strong.
