What is the Effective Range of Keyless Entry of new GS300? Has anybody tested on this? Can the wireless signal pass through walls?

I am always afraid that my children will accidentally unlock my car by pressing the unlock button since I am living at 2/F.

I have unlocked my car accros the parking lot at a distance of around 50 yards, so I would bet you can unlock it from the second floor. I can also lock my car in the driveway from inside the house, so I guess it does go through walls.

I think your best bet is not giving your kids access to the key fob.

Are you sure you can access your car from 50yrds? Thats 150 feet! I got the remote start from Lexus and they gave me a separate key fob because they said the original fob I can't access beyond 10-15 feet from the car. This aftermarket keyfob allows me to start up the car from approx 30 feet away.

I know I've tried to access my car from 40-50 feet away and I can't lock or unlock the car with the original lexux fob. Maybe its because I'm in NYC..there are a lot more interference with signals but IMO 150 feet range is way too much...too risky.

Honestly I have tried it being about 100 ft. No problem unlocking it. But if you are asking about the keyless entry, meaning if you are on the 2nd floor and your kids walk up to it and try and unlock and start, IT WON'T WORK.
The Keyless entry, when you just touch the handle and it opens, if you have your key, it about 5 feet.
The alarm, locking/unlocking is about 100-150 ft.
This answer your question?
I think it does. Let me know.

I'll try again tonight leaving work.
10-15 feet seems real weak to me. I'll check and see.

Thanks you for the replies from you guys. I have got a rough idea on the effective range now.

Actually if you wrap the keyfob in tinfoil it will extend the range to over a mile.

Soory, just had to add that.

Although I might try it.

That is so funny because it is true, I remember Lexus showing us this trick a long time ago and I have been doing it ever since, it really works! Lexus is the only car I have done this with too. Everytime I get far enough away from my car and it doesn't respond I touch it to my chin and vola~ I can personally vouch for this action, I have done it for at least a decade and it really does work!
