Unhappy So Who Else Has Nicks/scratches

found me a "beautiful" nick on my sideview mirror peice attached to the door from highway driving, chipped all the way down to the white plastic

then woke up yesterday morning, went in the garage and staring me in the eye is a nice, roughly 3", scratch on my bumper (down to the black urethane)

dunno what to do, i know painting over that rear bumper is going to cost me at least $300 and then probably another 50-100 for the mirror piece

and on top of that, they on back order for touch up paint in the meantime

cant win!!!

3 weeks after I bought my car, my wife took it to a wedding in So Cal, valet parking only at the hotel. After she leaves the wedding, she notices a line across the rear bumper, it looks like it received a tap from another car's license plate, now awaiting to see what the hotel does about it.

They're inevitable. I just try to touch them up when I discover them.

Have you considered installing a clear bra on your front end?

Contact your dealership and ask one of the service advisors for the phone number to their bumper scratch repair guy. All dealerships use one and at most Lexus dealerships, you can actually drop off your car and they will handle it for you. It will be a perfect repair and usually costs $100-150. When I say perfect, I mean PERFECT! They don't respray the entire bumper, only the scratched area. I am very meticulous about my cars and would not tolerate even the slightest discrepancy in paint color or clear coat. I know it sounds cheesy and half a$$ed but trust me, it will be perfect.

I never use valet, but this particular hotel had no parking within a reasonable walking distance. Besides I have seen how the valet boys drive the cars in Vegas, if you ever have time to kill in Vegas, watch how fast they drive in the valet parking structure. They don't bring the car to a complete stop before they shove the transmission in gear going the other way.

this is the reason I ok'd myself to spend $600 on a clear bra.. no bugs, no rock chips, nothing.. worth every sent I spent, specially here in florida with all the love bugs and rocks on the highway.

A big rig had a blow out and a good portion of the tire hit my car and popped off the small panel on the front bumper toward the driver side. Luckily I had the clear bra. However, it was blemished beyond repair but I buffed off approx. 80% of the blemish with a plastic restoration compound.

if your car is bling enough, though, the valet guys in LA don't park it, they leave it out front ...

I just picked up my GS350 yesterday and notice this morning there is a 5 inch scratch on the bottom part of the hood. I didn't notice it on the lot since it was dark when I finally got the paper work done. The color of the car is Mercury Metallic. I don't know if it could be buff out. Part of the scratch looks pretty deep. Any suggestions?

Take it back to the dealer and tell them you just found out about it. They shouldn't hesitate to try and buff it out for you if it's not too deep. Either way, they'll get it fixed for you.
