Default Temporary TMPS fix

i think i found the way for those who have aftermarket wheels to temporary get rid of the warning light that comes on when there is no sensors present.

Today while driving, my warning light came on after about 200 miles of driving on the new wheels. so when i pulled in my garage today, the warning light went away

instructions:

1. park near your factory wheels. (3ft of closer to whatever wheel)
2. turn off the car
3. turn it back on

it should be cleared
i think you should make sure your factory wheels have air in them

somehow this method worked for me.
if someone can try this and put in some input , that would be great

Did it come back on again? I think when the next time the system is searching for sensor, the light will come on again. I don't know how often the system searchs for the sensor. I guess that's why you call it a temporary fix.

Talked to people at Tirerack last week about some wheels. They told me that they can install sensors before mounting tires. They will give me the serial number/code and I'd have to go to my dealership to get them program. Was that an option for you when you purchased the wheels/tires?

I personally have purchased dub wheels the are 22's and my sensor light came on. I went to the dealership and the plug their computer in and the lights went away. Dub offers wheels with a predrilled place for the sensors though so just make sure you buy rims that can accomidate the sensors.

well its confirmed that all you need is to have the car within 10 ft to your stock tires and it will turn off the light.

after your check light comes on, the sys will keep on searching until it find the sensor

when you disconnect the battery, you will have to input all your radio stations and time.

with my way, you just drive near your stock tires and your done

ewww... I see... that sucks... Some guys don't have the stock wheels near home so I guess they'll just have to put up with it... good to know though!

Easy. Whenever you're on the road and see a GS with stock wheels parked somewhere just park next to it for a few minutes.

Im pretty sure that this wont work because of the serial codes having to be programmed. Maybe I am wrong but who knows. If it does work thats sick as hell.

I stand corrected, I forgot about the programmed serial codes. Scratch that idea.

If you remove the fuse that leads to the TPMS, does that make the light go away?
