Question Tire! Tire! Tire!

I am looking for new set of tire for my 06 GS300 AWD.

The ride comfort, cornering and traction on the OE Dunlop Sport RFT were so great when on its first 10,000 mile. It starts to ware after 10,000 miles. They are noise and I feel less contorl of the car.

I saw some GS owners who choose Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 or Pirelli PZero Nero 18" max performance summer tires.

It is appreciated if anyone could share your tire experience.

Does any one has tire suggestion on the GS300 AWD?

I liked your subject line, but sorry I can't help. I too will be looking to replace my Dunlop run tires and would like to have some suggestions. I haven't been a big Michelin fan, but I know they make great but pricey tires. I've used Yoko's on my RX and they've been excellent, but I know that's an entirely different beast.

I have the Pirelli PZero Nero M+S tires and I think they're great. Very quiet, excellent wet traction and good snow performance. I'd probably get the same tires when the time comes to replace them.

Get the "Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3". I have being using their tires for my TL, M35, and now my wife's new GS300. These tires are great in dry and wet conditions and it offers AMAZING traction on most weather and/or road conditions, (except snow, of course...since it's not made for snow roads)

However, you should always go with the tires that you believe is the most reliable for your driving experience. Good luck finding the tires for your 3GS.

Did your Goodyear tires replace Dunlop run flats on your GS? If so, how does the ride and handling compare between the two sets of tires?

DaveJ,

Yes, I bought the "Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3" to replace the Dunlop ones that came with the car. Goodyeare tires offer much much better ride quality, handling, and tire noise can barely be heard on these tires. I am pretty sure everyone knows by now how noisy the Dunlop's tire can be after 1000 ~ 1500 miles. I though Lexus would give us better tires, especially on the GS, because I personally think Dunlop tires sucks!!.

I greatly recommend these Goodyear tires since this is my 3rd set on 3 different cars already. Even with my 19 inch stock Infiniti rims for my M35, it offers better handling, (especially when cornering), compared to the stock Bridgestone tires that Infiniti put on.

One more thing, these Goodyear tires are relatively cheaper compare to other brands. You can check out www.tirerack.com, as you can compare these Goodyear tires with other brands. Sorry for the long post, but I am just trying to help out and offer my personal experience with these tires.

SGT,

How is your Pirelli PZero Nero M+S 18" tire, compare with OE Dunlop RFT 17" tire? I am very intrested in your tire selection.

CE, I didn't have the Dunlops on long enough to really get a feel for them. I switched to the Pirelli's about a month after I got the car, so I can't really compare the two, but I am liking the latter.

mj,

How is the light snow traction of Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 on your wife's GS300 or your cars?

CE,

the tire holds the road fairly well under light snow roads consider the tire is a max performance summer tire. Hope this helps...

BTW, i was leaning towards the GS350, but my wife wanted the GS300 due to better fuel economy and lower pricing...so I would say this is my wife's car...

SGT, Thanks for the information.
For some reason, Michelin tire seems doesn't fit my GS. The tire wall is too soft that affect the traction performance. I might upgrade to Pirelli PZero Nero M+S 18” with better handling.

Appreciate your input.
