Default GS450 owners - Mileage

Certainly, the EPA estimates are off. What are you guys actually getting? My friend's RX400h getting on average 24.

The wife is averaging 28.5 in her 400h. Keep the gas engine off and mpg will rise.

Those are really nice numbers considering its a SUV... Those numbers are just as good as a Honda or Mazda 3 cars ... Those are examples...

Anyway nice numbers

My 450h is getting about 24 and some change on mostly in-city driving with a bit of freeway driving occasionally. I got it for its performance factors but am happy to have the much improved mileage over my prior Acura RL and other cars I have had. Although I haven't yet had a road trip yet to test the highway EPA estimates, the city estimates are pretty accurate in my 700 miles of experience so far.

My wife has a lead foot and "only" gets about 22.5 in her 400h in all in-city, short distance driving. That is still a ton better than the 15 she got in her prior Volvo XC90.

also with all hybrids, u have to "break them in" to get the mpg up

so maybe wait a few more months and mpg might be closer to EPA

if it wasnt for the tiny trunk space, id be all over 450H now

I'm averaging 21.5 mpg on my 450h. I do a mix of hwy and streets but I've got a lead foot. 2000 miles so far after only 1 month. Still better than my lx470 which has only been driven once since I bought the GS.

I typically don't get great mileage on my regular commute since it is fairly short and has lots of stop signs. So far my GS450h is averaging 22.4 mpg, but I expect it will improve a little bit after break-in. My BMW 330i averages 18.5 mpg over the same commute.

Pretty much in line with what I was expecting. Good to know. Now, does anyone here know if they may be extending the carpool lanes to the 450 (for those in Socal)? I'm thinking about picking one up just to get past traffic.

Won't happen. The vehicle code that allows single passengar hybrids in the HOV lane requires a minimum 45 mpg. Same reason Accord and Camry hybrids can't get the sticker.

I think that's B.S.! Sure, we don't get 45mpg but we've paid big bucks to keep the environment clean and green! The funny thing is that I read the website that has the rules and it says that the hybrids must meet ONE of the following. Not 2. Weird. Maybe, if we have an attorney on this site, we should fight this. WISHFUL THINKING

don't know how much it would help attacking it...but i've seen a highlander hybrid and an accord hybrid with the sticker...don't know how they got it tho...i do have the stickers on my prius but on the Rx400h i don't since the dmv website says that it isn't allowed...plus i don't think it would look nice to put the hov stickers on a Lexus hybrid...heh

Did you pay big bucks to keep the environment clean and green, or did you just want to go faster?

I'll be honest and admit that I'm getting the 450H for the acceleration alone. If the environment befefits, that a bonus.

You guys aren't getting any better MPG than my GS300 RWD. Should I be allowed in the HOV lane too?
