For the most part I dont believe that a new engine will sway to many customers away from the current car. Now the GS430 is another story because the current car is considered underpowered when compared to others in its class, while the GS300 has comparable power to others in its class.
actually, performance wise, GS430 is almost there, while GS300 is not close to its competitors :-).
Then again, most people buying GS300 probably dont care that much about performance (and the car is not slow)... Nevertheless, mags will love GS350...

Both the GS300 & GS430 are underpowered AFAIC , but I can see that many may not mind the current versions as they care more about other areas in looks, features, quality, comfort/luxury etc. than more hp which they cannot use anyway for their normal daily driving. They're more likely to get better discounts for the current versions than waiting for the new versions to arrive too.

I'm one that is waiting. Originally I would only consider the GS430 as the GS300 with its current 245HP engine is a little weak for my taste, but since the GS350 suppsed to get the 306 HP engine that the IS350 gets that is a whole different story. I know torque wise it is not the same as a V8, but that is more than enough power for me. The new GS460 sounds awsome, but that is just a lot more power than I need. I know everyone loves more power even me, but in my everyday cars I'm sticking between the 260-320 HP range. I think if people knew the exact specs of the GS350 they surely would pass up the GS300 provide the price doesn't go up dramatically.
