Default Cargo net tie down - how?

Silly question, but I can't seem to figure out how to use the cargo net to tie down something as there only appears to be clips on the net on the bottom two corners. The top corners are clipless. Let's say I place something in the middle of the trunk that I'd like to prevent from shifting everywhere. Both bottom clips are on the two buckles but how would I clip the top two corners of the net to the remaining buckles?

I know that there are two additional buckles, but with no clips on the top two corners of the cargo net, how am I supposed to clip onto those two buckles?

I guess you're not supposed to use the actual cargo net to tie down stuff. From the looks of this picture in the manual, it appears that you have to use your own straps to tie the item being secured to the four buckles.

you have the cargo net that goes across the front of the trunk that you can put things into (like a bag) that clips on the bottom and the top of it has loops that connect to hooks by the tail light edge of the trunk....

There is another net that is sold that will go over you cargo in the truck and clip to the 4 tie downs
