Default Rust speckles in paint?

I have a glacier frost GS which i decided to partially clay over the weekend. After claying the section it felt very smooth but I saw speckles of rust in the paint. Is this from the paint or particles in the air?

Those are call pin rust. They are metal particles or brake shavings that lands on the paint which then rust. Best method to remove these are to clay them.

I clayed the area for about 10 minutes and they are still there. Should I try a different type of clay?

10 minutes for what size of the area? What brand of clay are you using? I hope you are lubricating the car surface whe you clay.

Got any pictures?

No pictures. I just clayed the back of the trunk. I think it's mcguiars clay kit that i used. I just used water to lubricate the clay.

I wouldn't recommend using only water as the lubricant. I suggest partial capfull of car shampoo in a 32 oz spray bottle or buy a claying lubricant. Try applying a little more pressure (back and forth direction only). Be careful as it can scratch your finish if you apply too much pressure.

Clay will only do so much, it won't get them all. Here is what is necessary and what's done on the dealership level to address the problem. It's not a simple 1 step deal, read the section in this pdf format under "Decontamination kit #M-32" Even though it's a Mazda TSB, it applies to all rail dust and industrial fallout problems.

You can purchase those chemicals here;

Though they're sold in bulk containers. It might be worthwhile to email Ron Ketcham at Automotive International and ask if they could sell you sample bottles. Either that, or take it back to the dealership and have them read what must be done. They should know how to do this already. It's very common.

Left unfixed, the particles will cause paint damage over time, requiring a repaint at a certain point as the micro rust particles attack further into the paint.
