Default Bluetooth question

I read this on Lexus' website...
"Bluetooth handsets cannot work without the Navigation System
Can the Bluetooth handset work without the Navigation System?
No – the Bluetooth functionality is only available on selected navigation equipped vehicles."

Is this true?!!!!! If so, why does my non-NAV equipped GS display all the telephone settings on the LCD display? The salesman said a bluetooth phone would work in the non-NAV equipped car.

Edmunds.com lists "Bluetooth wireless data link for hands-free phone" as a standard feature

Edit: Pictured is a GS without navigation (display screen only)

Yeah. I have the phone info on the display screen on my car too. So Lexus' website is just simply wrong?

Bluetooth capability is only available on Lexus vehicles w/Nav only. The reason why you see it on your screen, it's a default program setting in the user interface which is used by both nav and non nav models. If you don't have Nav or the telephone/speakerphone buttons on your steering wheel for your GS (assuming you have non Nav) and it's not listed on your window sticker, you do not have bluetooth capability. It's the same way with some indicator lights on your speedo/dash cluster...if you have a base car and there are other available extra options for car that it never came equipped with... like park assist or etc...you will see a non functioning indicator light in the background.

1- I don't have Nav.
2- I do have the buttons with the pictures of a phone on my steering wheel.
3- I do have the phone system "pages" on my LCD screen.
4- My window sticker has "Bluetooth Technology" listed as a standard "Convenience" feature.

That must be typographical on their part. Most Lexus models w/bluetooth connectivity have the Nav option. I believe the new GS is the only model currently available with bluetooth connectivity with Non-Nav models. What part of the webpage are you seeing that bluetooth disclaimer on?

That is totally incorrect. Bluetooth is standard on ALL 06 GS. I have a gs 300 without nav and I have bluetooth.

This is probably what you saw. This is a default FAQ for all Lexus models prior to the new 2006 models.
