Navigation instructions via Bluetooth?
Is there a phone app that gives turn-by-turn navigation through the sound system when NOT listening to music on the phone? I can only get mine to work when the phone is selected as the music source.

I have to politely disagree. Whenever you activate Siri, the nav switches to a "phone call" mode. It would be great if google maps could incorporate the same interface.

Kyle76, you have a relatively new 2014 RX350 according to your profile. I would give a call and arrange to meet with the Lexus Technology Specialist at your local dealership to work through this matter with your phone(s) and vehicle. It is what they are there for and their services are supposed to be free of charge.

According to this article, a March iOS update makes this possible on iPhone. I'll have to check tomorrow to see if it works on my 2014 GX 350 non-nav radio.

I'll check it out. Did you try opening up the audio settings within the app while your phone was connected via Bluetooth? Also, you may have to actually be navigating for it to work, according to the article.

The good news is that this absolutely works -- at least on my 2010 Toyota Tundra, so I'm guessing it will work on the RX as well. More good news is that once you set it, it will continue to work on subsequent navigations. You have to be in the car, connected via Bluetooth and have a navigation started. Once you hit the Start button for the navigation, a little speaker button will appear in the lower right corner of the map. When you hit that button, you will get a box that will allow you to "Allow HFP Prompts." Hit this button and you are good to go. You can also increase the volume of map prompts. Mine was set too "Low" and was hard to hear sometimes, so I moved the volume to "Medium," and it's much better.
