My untrained but highly used ears detected a noticeable difference between my '03 GS4 ML and my '06. The '03 was AWESOME and the '06 is OFF THE HOOK!!

besides the ls has 2 tweeters on each of the front doors and the ls is the BIG Dog...to the untrainded ear might be slightly better otherwise they are both mls
the reason I was asking because I've read so many articles on how great Mark Levinson system in LS430. Given that Mark Levinson in 06 GS is relatively new, I'd like to know if someone has compared them side-by-side.
Wow, Sick, that's good info! The ML in the new GS has lots more power and more channels than the LS!
Yup...the ML in the new GS is on a whole new level compared to the 1st-gen ML found on the LS. More power, more channels, and most importantly IMO, a bigger subwoofer, which totally remedies the complaints about the lack of oomph of the 1st-gen ML.
I'm really looking forward to hearing how the same system will sound in the new IS, which is supposed to use the same 14-speaker, 2nd-gen ML in the new GS. With a smaller cabin it should sound even more amazing.

Your quite welcome. I've heard the 2GS ML all the way up and the 3GS ML all the way up and if you thought the 2GS was crisp, the new one is on another level.
Lexus has always provided the best or one of the best sound systems. TOday, the other car makers HAD to step the systems up and it was Lexus that made them do it.
There's an excellent writeup in this month's Home Theater magazine about car audio AV and has a pretty long feature on the 3GS ML system and a couple of other cars.
I believe it is the August 2005 edition, with 'Top 100 DVDs' on the cover and 'Plasma or DLP, which is right for you" at the top. Also has articles on the new Energy Take speaker setup, Sonus wireless mp3 distribution system (just trying to help folks find it if you go look for the magazine, I happen to recall those articles).
