Sounds a bit strange. Do you have the ASL off? That can make a huge difference.
i have the asl on, when i first drove one it was loud and clear (the one i didnt buy) now the one i have sound litte low, might have to bring it in to the dealership
Auto Sound Leveling I think. ...What it does, it automaticly adjusts the volume according the the sound levels in your car. The more noise (mostly wind noise) the volue will turn up accordingly and vice versa.

The numbers don't mean anything, other than a relative reference. I play CDs between 30 and 40, so 25 seems Ok. The real issue is if you keep turning it up, does it play loud enough or not. I wager it does!

It doesn't seem to me that you should have to turn it up to 25 just to hear it. I keep my at about an 8 when the kids are in the car. Has it always been this way, or did it just all the sudden start? Have you checked the bass, midrange, and treble levels to make sure they didn't somehow get turned down all the way? That's probably worth taking to Lexus if you can't find the reason for it.

Yeah.. when I've got the kids in the car, they complain if I go above about 10-12 or much beyond that.. I can definately hear it below 10..

It might be that the ML system has a different gain structure than the non-ML system. I have the ML system, and playing at 30-40 is not unusual, and not overly loud. Which is yours?
