Default Had alignment, tech said caster is not adjustable

Hey guys. I recently had my struts replaced and so I went and had an alignment at my local Lexus dealership.

The after report showed that the caster on the driver side front was out of spec (in the red). The service advisor told me that the tech told him that caster is not adjustable on the 3GS. I just want to confirm that this is true. Does anyone know?

Well, I just checked an alignment report from a few years ago and the caster was within spec. So something doesn’t add up here.

you just had the front struts done, right? did they align it after that? or is this the first alignment since you had that done?

Had all 4 corners done and this was the first alignment since that. The left front caster is about ,4 degrees out of spec. I checked an alignment from a few years ago and the left caster was at 7 as opposed to 6.6. I’m not sure if that’s a meaningful difference but if it’s not adjustable then how did it move.

I think they’re probably right that it’s not an adjustable spec, but just need to confirm.

dunno, but reading up on it online it could mean that other suspension parts are worn(control arm bushings mb) and replacing the struts changed the geometry that the suspension had settled into. or possibly that the strut mount on that side is misaligned? do the strut bolts on top(in the engine compartment) look the same on both the left and the right side? all sticking through uniformly?

I was thinking the same thing. It probably means that something else has settled or moved, causing the .4° difference in caster. Is that meaningful? The car drives straight and I don’t notice anything out of the ordinary so I think it’s probably OK. When the tech put the car back together, he said everything went back perfectly, and there were no issues. And I doubt I would be able to see anything with my untrained eye by looking at the strut tops, but I’ll check anyway. Thanks again for all your help with this.

The tech is kinda correct, the only adjustment is toe in/out

However, there is a bit of adjustment in the sub frame if you loosen it and shift it around.

here's a couple threads regarding this on ISF
