I agree it looks junky as hell.
But on a sunny day, driving into the sun, the glare is not just significant on my gloss grey dash, its terrible.
With this crappy looking thing the glare is totally gone.
That's why I'm so torn.
Looks cool from the outside though.

just let the dust collect on your dash- cuts the glare right down 😁
I think part of the reason it looks rather unappealing is how loose the fit is on the dashboard. I actually have a similar dash-mat on my GS460, I attached some velcro pads to the underside of the mat with matching pads stuck to the dash. It holds the mats down tight and prevents it slipping around. I live in Auckland New Zealand where, while the temps may be moderate, the UV ratings through summer are nearly always very high or extreme (i.e. off the scale) - it is the UV that is the killer (coupled with the glare). A suggestion for what it's worth.
My glare is horrible and dangerous so I put a dash pad from weather tech I believe? Needed to massage it for about a week and stick it down with 3m double sided.
it will occasionally need to be vacuumed but worth it as is deletes the glare.
An alternative option is to wear polarized sunglasses as I’ve found that to delete the glare from my position
